Document Planning

Overview

Creating documents that communicate the right information to the right people in the right way requires planning1. That means developing an information plan. Information planning is a subset of project management.

Elements of Document Planning

According to leading authority, JoAnn Hackos1 the 5 elements of a document information plan are:

·        Understanding the goals and objectives of the development project

·        Creating the goals and objectives for the publications project

·        Analyze the audience and their environment

·        Analyzing tasks the audience wants to perform

·        Consider the design implications and select the media.
